Slipcovers

Slipcovers are an easy way to update and give character to an existing chair or sofa.  They are easier to maintain as they can be removed and washed.  Just be careful not to shrink the fabric if it was not pre-washed before production.  Washing the fabric before production will give a more relaxed, softer look.  Slipcovers will create an elegant and casual feel to a room.  While kick-pleats, ties, tape and trim will add a touch of detail, a simple cover will look great when it is done correctly.  Here are some of the slipcovers I keep on file..

I love how the ties and the skirt look like a couture-fitted dress..

I like the two-piece, tailored slipcover here. It works better for the shape and scale of these chairs..

A shorter skirt here fore a more casual look..

These tailored slipcovers show off the finials of the chair..

A French-style pleated skirt and ottoman..

Slipcovers for more contemporary chairs..

A simple slipcovered sofa..

I love the fabric added on the skirt here. A tape would work as well..

Love the ties hanging on the padded arms..

This chair is beautifully done with the ties over the flat back and the perfect length on the kick-pleated skirt..

Coffee Tables

Crate and Barrel along with their more contemporary sister store, CB2, has some versatile coffee tables that are not only great looking but at great prices.  Of course, I then had to add two from Restoration Hardware just to show more diversity in these transitional options.  Just place any of the table options in either of the two rooms shown below and see how easy enough they can work.

I love this Marble Top Table from CB2.  It can go in almost any space that suits a round table.  Put it in a monochromatic room with linen, slipcovered sofa and chairs or put it in a bold or deep colored room with a low-profile leather sofa. The Smart Round Marble Top Coffee Table at CB2

Two others from CB2 that can work in almost any space..

Here are three that I like from Crate and Barrel..

I love the raw design of the steel legs with this Rivet table and it would look great on a hardwood floor or on a high-pile rug..

This Frame Coffee Table is another versatile piece. It is a bit lighter in scale and has a contemporary look compared to the following two from Restoration Hardware.  All work great for almost any sitting area.

And lastly, two from Restoration Hardware..
