Classic Sofas

Choosing the right sofa begins with asking yourself the right questions.  What is the sofa that reflects my style?  Is it comfortable for my needs?  Is is constructed well?  Most people keep their sofas for 7 to 10 years.  Often people buy them on a whim rather than thinking about a piece that will be with them possibly forever.  A quality piece that you love should get better with age or one that you can reupholster if you choose to change it up.  Here are a few of my favorite timeless sofas.  Notice the clean lines and how these would each be beautiful in any leather, linen, velvet or even mohair.  These sofas would also work in various styled rooms.  You could throw down a antique rug, a shag, or a hide to any of them.

First, the Naviglio Sofa.  Comfort and quality combined with a classical modern design by Umberto Asnago Umberto Asnago. The soft leather and steel frame give this a raw yet sumptuous feel.

Another leather sofa with a more Mid Century Modern style.  This Tribeca Sofa with it's steel frame and boxy cushions are both classic and comfortable.

Here are a few Tuxedo Style Sofas.  Tuxedo sofas have arms that are similar in height to the back. The arms can be straight off the back or lightly curved. The first is vintage and the second is Lizard de luxe
from Friedemann Ramachers.

The Chesterfield Sofa.  Always great, always timeless..

and this one from Restoration Hardware..

This Christian Liaigre Grand Canape Moderne is casually elegant in linen but would also look great in a soft velvet with a decorative wide tape along the bottom edge of the skirt and piping on the pillows to color match.

Lastly, contemporary sectionals are also a great selection.  The Deep Sofa from Friedemann Ramachers and the Nolan Sofa from Minotti.  A little less transitional for the average person but I think they are just as well.  Again, simple lines and comfort.
